Description

Indication

Omeshal is used to treat conditions caused by excess stomach acid, such as:

• Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
• Non-cancerous stomach ulcers
• Active duodenal ulcers
• Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
• Erosive esophagitis
• It may also be used in combination with antibiotics to treat gastric ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori Infection)

Dosage

The dosage of Omeshal injection varies depending on the condition being treated and the patient’s response to the medication. It is typically administered by a healthcare professional. Common dosages include:

• GERD and Erosive Esophagitis: 20-40 mg once daily
• Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: 60 mg once daily, but can be adjusted based on patient needs
• H.pylori Infection: Often combined with antibiotics, the dosage is usually 20 mg twice daily

Side Effects

Common side effects of Omeshal may include:

• Headache
• Stomach pain
• Nausea
• Diarrhea
• Vomiting
• Gas
• Cold symptoms (stuffy nose, sneezing, sore throat)
• Fever (especially in children).

Serious side effects can include:

• Kidney problems (e.g., urinating less than usual, blood in urine)
• Severe diarrhea (watery or bloody)
• New or worsening symptoms of lupus (joint pain, skin rash)
• Increased risk of bone fractures with long-term use.

Precautions

• Liver disease

• Bloody or black stools, vomit that looks like coffee grounds
