Description
Indication
Esofag-D is indicated for:
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and associated symptoms like heartburn, chest discomfort, and acidity.
- Non-ulcer dyspepsia, esophageal reflux, reflux esophagitis, and gastritis.
- Diabetic gastroparesis and functional dyspepsia.
- Prevention and symptomatic relief of acute nausea and vomiting from various causes, including chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
- Prophylactic treatment of migraine.
Dosage
- Adults: 10-20 mg every 4-8 hours, taken 15-30 minutes before a meal.
- Children: 0.2-0.4 mg/kg every 4-8 hours, taken 15-30 minutes before a meal.
- For acute nausea and vomiting, the maximum treatment period is 12 weeks.
Side Effects
Common side effects include:
- Diarrhea
- Flatulence
- Stomach pain
- Dryness in mouth
- Headache
- Hyperprolactinemia, which may cause galactorrhea, breast enlargement, soreness, and reduced libido.
Precautions
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Consult your doctor before use.
- Liver diseases: Inform your doctor if you have any liver conditions.
- Alcohol: Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medication as it can worsen drowsiness.
- Driving and mental focus: Do not drive or perform activities requiring mental focus until you know how the medicine affects you.
