Description
Indication
Lansoprazole is indicated for:
- Indigestion
- Heartburn
- Acid reflux (GERD)
- Stomach ulcers
- Erosive esophagitis
- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
Dosage
The usual dosage for adults is:
- Indigestion, heartburn, acid reflux, and stomach ulcers: 15mg to 30mg once daily
- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: 60mg to 120mg daily, depending on the severity
Side Effects
Common side effects include:
- Headache
- Diarrhea
- Stomach pain
- Nausea
- Constipation
- Vomiting
Precautions
- Allergies: Inform your doctor if you have any allergies to lansoprazole or other medications.
- Liver problems: Use with caution if you have liver issues.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Lansoprazole is not usually recommended during pregnancy.
- Endoscopy: If you are scheduled for an endoscopy, consult your doctor about stopping lansoprazole a few weeks before the procedure.
