Description
Matropin contains Homatropine Hydrobromide, a medication used for:
Pupil dilation (mydriasis): Often used before eye examinations or surgeries.
Eye inflammation treatment (uveitis, iritis): Helps relieve pain and discomfort by relaxing the eye muscles.
Cycloplegia (temporary paralysis of eye focusing muscles): Used in some eye treatments and diagnostics.
Dosage & Administration:
The usual dose is 1-2 drops in the affected eye(s) as directed by an eye doctor.
Wait at least 5 minutes before using other eye medications.
Avoid touching the dropper tip to prevent contamination.
Side Effects:
Temporary blurred vision
Light sensitivity (photophobia)
Eye redness or irritation
Increased intraocular pressure (caution in glaucoma patients)
Precautions:
Not recommended for glaucoma patients, especially those with narrow-angle glaucoma.
Can cause temporary vision disturbances—avoid driving or operating machinery until effects wear off.
Use caution in children and elderly patients, as they may be more sensitive to side effects.
