- Reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes in individuals with certain risk factors.
Dosage
The dosage of Rovista varies based on the patient’s condition and response to treatment:
- Adults: Typically, the starting dose is 10-20 mg once daily. For patients requiring significant LDL reduction, the dose may be increased to 40 mg once daily.
- Children (8-17 years): The usual dose ranges from 5-20 mg once daily, depending on the specific condition being treated.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Rovista include:
- Headache
- Nausea
- Muscle aches and pain
- Weakness
- Constipation
- Stomach pain
Serious side effects, though rare, may include:
- Muscle problems (myopathy or rhabdomyolysis)
- Liver damage
- Kidney damage
Precautions
