Description
Mixtard 70/30 is a type of insulin that is used to manage diabetes. It is a premixed insulin containing 70% intermediate-acting insulin (isophane insulin) and 30% short-acting insulin (soluble insulin). This combination helps control blood sugar levels by providing both immediate and longer-lasting effects.
The short-acting insulin works quickly to lower blood sugar, especially after meals.
The intermediate-acting insulin helps maintain blood sugar control between meals and during the night.
It’s usually injected subcutaneously (under the skin) and is often taken 1 or 2 times a day, usually 30 minutes before a meal. The exact dosage and timing depend on the individual’s needs, so it’s important for patients to follow their doctor’s instructions carefully.
