Description

Indication: Hyoscine butylbromide injection is indicated for the relief of acute spasms in the gastrointestinal or genitourinary tracts, such as renal or biliary colic. It is also used to relax smooth muscles before diagnostic procedures like endoscopy or radiological examination.

Dosage:

• Adults: The usual dose is 10-20 mg given by intramuscular (IM), intravenous (IV), or subcutaneous (SC) injection. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 100 mg.
• Children: Dosage should be determined by a healthcare provider based on the child’s weight and medical condition.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include:

• Dry mouth
• Dizziness
• Blurred vision
• Constipation
• Difficulty urinating
• Increased heart rate

Serious side effects, though rare can include severe allergic reactions, confusion and difficulty breathing.
