Description
Gentamicin Eye/Ear Drops is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections of the eyes and ears. It belongs to the aminoglycoside class and works by stopping bacterial growth.
Uses
Eye infections: Conjunctivitis, keratitis, blepharitis
Ear infections: Otitis externa (outer ear infection)
Post-surgical infection prevention
Dosage & Administration
For Eyes:
1-2 drops in the affected eye(s) every 4-6 hours.
For severe infections: Every 2 hours, as prescribed.
For Ears:
2-4 drops in the affected ear 3-4 times daily.
Lie down for a few minutes after application to let the drops absorb.
Side Effects
Eye: Mild burning, redness, temporary blurred vision
Ear: Temporary discomfort, itching, rare allergic reactions
Precautions
Do not use in viral or fungal infections.
Avoid prolonged use to prevent resistance.
For ears: Ensure the eardrum is intact before use.
