Description
Indication
Dopatab is primarily used to treat:
- Moderate to severe hypertension
- Gestational hypertension (pregnancy-induced hypertension)
- Pre-eclampsia
Dosage
The dosage of Dopatab varies based on the patient’s condition and response to treatment. Generally:
- Initial dose: 250 mg two to three times daily for the first 48 hours.
- Maintenance dose: 500 mg to 2 g daily in divided doses
Side Effects
Common side effects of Dopatab include:
- Drowsiness
- Edema (swelling)
- Dry mouth
- headache
Precautions
- Liver disease: Not recommended for patients with acute liver disease.
- Hemolytic anemia: Discontinue if evidence of hemolytic anemia appears.
