Indication

Dosage

• Adults: 2 to 24 million units per day, divided into doses every 4 to 6 hours.
• Children: Dosage is based on body weight, usually 50,000 to 300,000 units per kilogram per day, divided into doses every 4 to 6 hours.

Side Effects

Common side effects of crystalline penicillin include:

• Nausea and vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Rash
• Injection site reactions (pain, redness, or swelling)
• Oral thrush or vaginal yeast infections

Serious side effects can include:

• Allergic reactions (hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat)
• Severe skin reactions
• Seizures
• Kidney problems (dark or cloudy urine, swelling of the ankles or feet)
• Severe diarrhea (bloody or watery stools)

Precautions
