Indication

Kenalog Injection is indicated for:

• Allergic disorders: Severe allergic reactions, asthma, and hay fever.
• Rheumatic disorders: Arthritis, gout, and bursitis.
• Skin conditions: Eczema, psoriasis, and other inflammatory skin conditions.
• Blood disorders: Certain types of anemia and blood clotting disorders.
• Eye diseases: Inflammatory eye conditions.
• Gastrointestinal diseases: Severe colitis and Crohn’s disease.
• Respiratory diseases: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other lung conditions.
• Endocrine disorders: Adrenal insufficiency and other hormone-related conditions.

Dosage

• Initial Dose: The suggested initial dose is 60 mg, injected deeply into the gluteal muscle. Dosage is usually adjusted within the range of 40 mg to 80 mg, depending on the patient’s response and duration of relief.
• Maintenance Dose: Some patients may be well controlled on doses as low as 20 mg or less.
• Specific Conditions: For hay fever or pollen asthma, a single injection of 40 mg to 100 mg per season may be given.

Side Effects

Common side effects may include:

• Allergic reactions: Rash, itching, swelling.
• Sleep problems: Insomnia.
• Mood swings: Euphoria, depression.
• Headache: Dizziness, vertigo.
• Gastrointestinal issues: Nausea, bloating, stomach pain.

Precautions

• Allergies: Do not use if you are allergic to triamcinolone or any other ingredients.
• Medical conditions: Inform your doctor if you have a history of infections, high blood pressure, heart problems, diabetes, or liver/kidney disease.
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Consult your doctor before using Kenalog if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• Interactions: Avoid using other medications that affect blood clotting, such as NSAIDs, aspirin, or other anticoagulants, without consulting your doctor.
