Ventolin Nebules

Description

Indication:

Ventolin Nebules are primarily indicated for:

• The treatment or prevention of bronchospasm in patients with reversible obstructive airway diseases such as asthma.
• Relief of symptoms in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
• Management of acute bronchospasm or during an asthma attack.

Dosage:

• Adults and children over 12 years: The usual dose is 2.5 mg to 5 mg salbutamol up to four times a day.
• Children 4-12 years: The usual dose is 2.5 mg up to four times a day.
• Children under 4 years: The dosage should be determined by a physician.

The nebules should be used with a nebulizer as directed by a healthcare professional. The solution should not be injected or ingested orally.

Side Effects:

Common side effects of Ventolin Nebules include:

• Tremors
• Headache
• Tachycardia (fast heartbeat)
• Palpitations
• Muscle cramps
• Nervousness or anxiety
• Dry mouth or throat irritation

Precautions:

• Cardiovascular disease: Use with caution in patients with heart problems, as Ventolin can increase heart rate and blood pressure.
• Diabetes: Salbutamol can cause an increase in blood sugar levels; therefore, monitoring is advised for diabetic patients.
• Thyrotoxicosis: Caution is advised in patients with overactive thyroid glands.
• Hypokalemia risk: Monitoring of potassium levels is recommended as Ventolin can cause a drop in potassium, especially with high doses or prolonged use.
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Use only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus or infant. Consult with a healthcare provider.
