Description
Indication
Robinax is indicated for:
- Relief of discomfort associated with acute painful musculoskeletal conditions.
- Control of muscle spasms in conditions like tetanus.
Dosage
- Initial Dosage: 1.5 grams (3 tablets) taken 4 times daily.
- Maintenance Dosage: 1 gram (2 tablets) taken 4 times daily.
- For severe conditions: Up to 8 grams daily may be administered, but typically reduced to approximately 4 grams daily after the first 48 to 72 hours.
Side Effects
Common side effects include:
- Dizziness and drowsiness
- Lightheadedness
- Blurred vision
- Nausea
- Rash and itching
- Headache and fever
Precautions
- Concentration: Methocarbamol may impair concentration; avoid driving or operating machinery.
- Pregnancy: Not recommended during pregnancy unless benefits outweigh risks.
- Breastfeeding: Exercise caution; it is not known if Methocarbamol is excreted in breast milk.
- Children: Safety and efficacy not established in children under 12 years, except in cases of tetanus.
- Overdose: Overdose can lead to coma and CNS depression; seek immediate medical attention.
