Melotears belongs to the group of medicines known as artificial tears.

Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose is used to relieve dryness and irritation caused by reduced tear flow.
It helps prevent damage to the eye in certain eye diseases.
It may also be used to moisten hard contact lenses and artificial eyes.
In addition, it may be used in certain eye examinations.
Melotears is considered an inert substance as it has no direct pharmacological activity.
The viscosity-promoting properties of hypromellose prolong the retention time and improve adhesion of synthetic tears to the cornea and conjunctiva.
A stable tear film protects the cornea from dryness and epithelial cells.

Description

Indication:
- Melotears enriched with Carbomer 980 is a long-acting eye gel for lubricating the surface of the eye for all patients with ocular discomfort.
- It is used for conditions such as dry eyes, ocular discomfort, and ocular irritation.
Side Effects:
- Common side effects may include stinging/redness in the eye, widened pupils, or blurred vision.
- If any of these effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Dosage:
- Use this medication in the affected eye(s) as directed by your doctor, usually up to 4 times a day as needed.
- Follow all directions on the product package or use as directed by your doctor.
- Remove contact lenses before applying the eye drops.
- Wait at least 10 minutes after using this medication before inserting contact lenses.
- Replace the dropper cap tightly after each use.
Precautions:
- Do not use if the liquid has changed color or is cloudy.
- Wait several minutes for your vision to clear before driving or operating machinery.
- Overuse of this type of medication may result in increased eye redness (rebound effect when the drug wears off).
- If your condition lasts or worsens after 72 hours, or if you think you may have a serious medical problem, stop using this medication and seek medical help.
