Description
Indication:
- It’s safe to use Benadryl for mild allergy symptoms in children, such as redness, mild congestion, and localized hives.
- Always follow your pediatrician’s advice and dosage recommendation
Dosage:
- Children 6 to 11 years: 5 mL to 10 mL every 4 to 6 hours (maximum 6 doses in 24 hours).
- Children 2 to 5 years: Do not use unless directed by a doctor.
- Children under 2 years: Do not use.
Side Effects:
- Benadryl may cause drowsiness.
- Newer antihistamines are more effective and provide longer symptom relief without drowsiness
Precautions:
- First-line treatment for severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) is self-injectable epinephrine.
