Description
Indication: Levonorgestrel is indicated for:
- Emergency contraception to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure (e.g., a broken condom)
- Backup contraception in case regular birth control fails or is used incorrectly
Dosage:
- The typical dosage is one tablet taken orally as soon as possible within 72 hours after unprotected sex. If vomiting occurs within 2 hours of taking the tablet, another dose may be needed.
Side Effects: Common side effects may include:
- Menstrual changes (e.g., irregular periods, heavier or lighter bleeding)
- Nausea
- Fatigue
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Lower abdominal pain
