Description
Indication:
- Asmalyn is used for the treatment of severe acute asthma (status asthmaticus) and other forms of bronchospasm. It’s also a bronchodilator for conditions associated with airways obstruction, such as asthma, chronic bronchitis, and emphysema.
Dosage:
Children:
- 2-6 years: 2.5 ml syrup, 3-4 times daily
- 6-12 years: 5 ml syrup, 3-4 times daily
Adults:
- 10 ml 3-4 times daily
Side Effects:
- Common side effects include nervousness, tremor, headache, increased heart rate, palpitations, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, sweating, and skeletal muscle tremor.
Precautions:
- Avoid in patients with coronary insufficiency, cardiac arrhythmias, hypertension, convulsive disorders, hyperthyroidism, or those unusually responsive to sympathomimetic amines.
- Monitor plasma potassium concentration in severe asthma.
- Discontinue use if paradoxical bronchospasm occurs.
