Description
Indication
Aldomet is indicated for the management of hypertension. It can be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agent.
Dosage
- Initial Dose: The usual starting dose is 250 mg two or three times a day for the first 48 hours.
- Maintenance dose: 500 mg to 2 g daily in divided doses
- Dosage adjustments are made based on the patient’s response and tolerance to the medication.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Aldomet include:
- Drowsiness
- Dizziness
- Headache
- Weakness
Serious side effects may include:
- Lightheadedness
- Pale or yellowed skin
- Dark-colored urine
- Fever
- Confusion
- Uncontrolled muscle movements
- Rapid weight gain
Precautions
- Liver disease: Not recommended for patients with acute liver disease.
- Hemolytic anemia: Discontinue if evidence of hemolytic anemia appears.
