Tabasil (Terbinafine 250mg) Per Card of 10 Tablets

Tabasil 250mg is a medication containing terbinafine, an allylamine antifungal.

1. Uses:
   • Tabasil is effective against various fungal infections, including:
     • Dermatophytes: It treats fungal infections of the skin, hair, and nails caused by Trichophyton spp., Microsporum spp., and Epidermophyton floccosum.
     • Yeasts: It is effective against yeast infections of the skin, primarily those caused by the genus Candida.
     • Pityriasis Versicolor: Topical terbinafine appears to be effective in this condition due to Pityrosporum arbiculare
2. Dosage:
   • For dermatological infections:
     • Tabasil Cream: Used for interdigital tinea pedis (athlete’s foot), tinea cruris (jock itch), tinea corporis (ringworm), and planter tinea pedis (moccasin type).
     • Tabasil Tablet:
       • Onychomycosis of the toenail or fingernail:
         • Finger nail: 250 mg once daily for 6 weeks.
         • Toe nail: 250 mg once daily for 12 weeks.
3. Side Effects:
   • Common side effects may include gastrointestinal symptoms, headache, and skin reactions.
   • Liver function tests are recommended before starting oral terbinafine to reduce the risk of liver injury.
