Retrax (Levamisole)

Description

Retrax Levamisole is an antihelminthic medication, commonly used to treat parasitic worm infections, including roundworms and hookworms. It is available in various forms, including syrup and tablets. The active ingredient, Levamisole, works by paralyzing the muscles of the worms, allowing them to be expelled from the body through normal bowel movements, typically within 24 hours.

For children and adults, the dosage for roundworm infections is typically a single dose of 2.5 ml (half a teaspoon) of the syrup, and for hookworm infections, it is 5 ml (one teaspoon). The medication is generally well tolerated across different age groups, including children under two years old and women of childbearing age. It may also have immune-boosting properties, as it has been used experimentally in treating some rheumatic disorders.
